It’s so easy to forget how important it is to be grateful for everyday things that we take for granted. I sprained my ankle not too long ago and realized how I often don’t say thank you for my ability to walk freely without hindrance. I sometimes complain about how my feet hurt after a day of walking the dog, shopping, or walking to work. After trying to get things done with a sprained ankle I realized just how fortunate I was to be able to walk at all.

How about being able to see sunrises and sunsets or hear great symphonies or the laughter of your kids. How about being able to use your hands to create a wonderful meal or to type on the computer. Being able to move freely within my world and being able to enjoy it with all my senses is miraculous and I often forget this until something happens that causes me to slow down and truly appreciate these gifts.

So when you’re feeling like life is a little bit hard at the moment, take the time to stop and see, touch, smell, listen and taste the wonder around you. Realize that no matter what is going on in your life, there is always something to be grateful for!
