“The best mirror is an old friend.”
- George Herbert

Ain’t that the truth. Sometimes it’s a blessing and I think sometimes it’s a curse. Often old friends who know you really well and know where you’ve come from are great B.S. barometers ;o)

You know, they know when you’re posing or not being true to yourself and will usually call you on it. I am extremely blessed to have a few old friends that I’ve known since I was a teenager (a long while ago), they tend to keep me balanced.

On the other side of the coin though, old friends can sometimes have a vision of you that they find hard to let go of. They see you in a certain way and if you grow into being more of who you are and they are not on the same path, often what will happen is they will try to keep you in the same place they are comfortable seeing you in.

But, if you are truly friends, you can tell each other that you will not be held back and ask for the support you need in order to change into more of who you are and who you want to become. An old friend will generously give you that support because their love is unconditional.

I figure if I end up my life with even just one true, old friend, I can count my life as a success! How about you?
